This beautiful artwork started with the weed being in full view in the grasses of the midwest and has a history going back many years of a person picking each purple thistle petal with the saying of "He Loves Me", pulling another "He Loves Me Not" until the last one is pulled and which ever saying was with the last one is the out come.
